Increased funding for women’s football

Women's football

The Premier League has announced funding that will bring women and girls’ football nearly £10m of investment. The funding will provide more opportunities for women and girls to develop their game. It will be made available to Premier League Clubs and the FA’s new network Girls’ Emerging Talent Centres.

The funding includes £3m for The Football Association Women’s National League, which will be used to develop the women’s game at tiers 3 and 4. An additional £1.5m will be made available to Premier League clubs for stadium improvements to make them more inclusive and accessible.

The announcement comes as the Premier League has promised £1.75m per year for the next three years for the FA’s new network Girls’ Emerging Talent Centres. These centres will be focused on growing existing talent in English women’s football.

Girls are more likely to opt-out of playing sports than boys, many going into their teen years feeling uncomfortable playing sports in front of others. Ballers Academy supports girls’ football and goalkeeping, and we believe in encouraging a life-long affinity with the sport.
